As an engineer, you have a deep technical understanding of developing and maintaining large web applications. You have a background as a developer for backend, frontend or both, and understand the tradeoffs in developing a quality application while supporting the needs of a fast growing business.
You are self-organizing, process-oriented and able to estimate time and resource needs accurately.
As the Peakon engineering team grows, we are looking for an Engineering Manager to take on the task of leading a group of talented engineers and guide them in their daily work. You will have a number of engineers reporting to you, and will work closely with them on a daily basis to help prioritize efforts and remove obstacles. This includes identifying requirements and breaking down tasks to make sure the team delivers a high quality product on time.
You will act as a role model for the team, leading by example with a good understanding of Peakon and its business, and always with your team’s best interest in mind. You will establish individual career plans for your team members to make sure they are able to grow professionally within the organization.
In addition to supporting your team, you will be contributing to the technical work as a senior engineer. You will contribute code regularly, provide constructive feedback and participate in code reviews and architectural discussions regarding new features and products.
Additionally, as an Engineering Manager, you will work with other leaders in the engineering team to plan for long term technical and team needs.
- Previous leadership experience, either as an engineering lead or manager
- Experience working with small, cross-functional teams in an agile environment
- Empathic and able to adapt their leadership style to the individual
- Is a team player who strive to better not only themselves, but also everyone around them
- Professional experience working as a backend/frontend engineer
- Experience designing and implementing complex web applications
- Detail-oriented, focusing on writing maintainable code of high quality
- Believes in and practices automated testing at all levels
- Values developer productivity, and relies on continuous integration and automation to iterate faster
- Self-organising and process-oriented
